Fantastic day on the water with family last week o Fantastic day on the water with family last week on the River Avon and Stour in Christchurch, Dorset. It was a mini adventure with lots of exploring. From paddling along the busy main waterways to meandering past the old ruins. Ducking under weeping willows and dangling our feet in the water under Redford Bridge. What a way to spend a summers day….

Plan it right at low tide for a fun beach adventur Plan it right at low tide for a fun beach adventure at Hordle Cliff, Milford on Sea! As the tide drops, swim or wade out and take a stroll in ankle deep water on the sand bar. The views of the brightly coloured huts lining the beach are beautiful, as is The Needles behind you. A gorgeous spot from a different perspective!

🚙 Park at Hordle Cliff West carpark, there’s a takeaway kiosk and toilets at the carpark.
☀️Take the steps at the cliff top straight down to the shoreline.
🤓 Be sure to check the tide times to avoid disappointment!
📍Save this for your next trip to Milford on Sea…

I’ve just worked with very.co.uk on a really coo I’ve just worked with very.co.uk on a really cool campaign to promote the Garmin Forerunner 165 smartwatch. I’ve always been an Apple Watch fan but this one has changed my mind! From counting my steps on the school run to tracking my fitness on outdoor adventures, it’s my new favourite thing! Plus it’s water resistant, so great for paddle boarding too.

I’ve put the link in my bio to my blog post all about it if you want to know more…

*This post isn’t an AD - I received this product as a gift from very.co.uk and payment for creating blog content. As always all views and opinions are my own and I really enjoyed working on this one.

Months?! It’s been years… 14 years in fact! I Months?! It’s been years… 14 years in fact!
I’ve been travel writing and content creating for 14 years! I can’t quite believe that myself!

I started by travelling the globe as cabin crew with British Airways in 2006 and chose to study for a Diploma in Journalism alongside this. Whilst I didn’t complete the diploma I had to start a blog as part of the diploma… and so created my travel blog. From there I landed my first freelance content writing job for a travel company and the opportunities continued…

I don’t regret not completing the diploma, it completely shaped my future! From freelance work to press trips, social media campaigns and sponsored posts. I’m loving every minute!

I left my cabin crew role in 2020 but have never lost my love for travel and passion for writing. It’s something that I’ve been able to slow down with whilst having my two children and also pick up again.

It’s been a struggle to keep it going since my youngest was diagnosed 4 years ago with Type 1 Diabetes. I’ve put it on the back burner to care for him and creating content hasn’t always been easy, when mentally I’ve not been in the right place. But I’m slowly getting back into writing more on my travel blog and I’ve had some brilliant travel and content work come my way so far this year.

So grateful for a life full of adventure!

(And now on the hustle for more freelance writing work!! So if you know someone who needs a travel copywriter please send them my way… )😀✈️

Looking for a leisurely paddle boarding adventure? Looking for a leisurely paddle boarding adventure? Head to Christchurch in Dorset to explore the River Avon and Stour.

Follow the river as it meanders through the town, under bridges along past weeping willows and don’t forget to wave to the cows! There’s nothing better on a balmy summers day…

🚙 We parked at Mayors Mead carpark and launched our paddle boards from the slipway.

🏄🏻‍♀️We went left along the River Stour and meandered past the recreation ground on the town quay and Christchurch Yacht Club before taking a left for a slow paddle towards Redford Bridge.

⭐️Pass under this lovely old bridge and follow the loop all the way round onto the River Avon (Ignoring the left turn by the A35) It gets quite narrow in between the weeping willows and we were the only ones on this stretch of the water making it a lovely little adventure!

🐟 You’ll eventually paddle under another bridge and pass Paddle Up Coffee Stop @thesupstoreuk. They have their own private slipway so you can stop for a coffee and check out the store!

🔵Continue on to complete the loop and back onto the River Stour. If you have time head up past Mayors Mead carpark to @tucktonteagardens for a milkshake stop!

🏴‍☠️My top tips:
Wear a buoyancy aid
Always check tide times
Watch out for strong flows on the river bends
Take a phone with you in a waterproof case
