I Love Jersey…

I am currently in Jersey in the Channel Islands, for a very quick 17 hours!  While the weather back on the south coast of the UK seems to have reverted back to winter the sun is gloriously shining over here!  So to make the most of the lovely afternoon sun I have just been on a 6 mile bike ride along the promenade from St Helier to St Aubin.  I can’t think of a better way to take in the views of this stunning coastline.  With bike lanes marked all along the seafront it’s a nice, easy, flat ride.  There are lots of cafes dotted along the seafront too so you can easily stop for an ice-cream or beverage in the sun.  I am staying at the Radisson Blu hotel, which is in a stunning location right on the waterfront and within walking distance of the town centre.  There is a giant fish tank in reception, which is amazing!  (Since writing this post the Radisson Blu has had a facelift and the fish tank is sadly no longer there.)  The terrace outside is perfect for relaxing in the sun with a glass of wine, while gazing at the huge yachts moored in the harbour.  To top it off nicely, the beds are undoubtedly the comfiest I have ever slept in!
I am back in Jersey again in a few weeks time, my plan is to visit Elizabeth Castle.  This fort is only accessible on foot at low tide as it sits quite far out in St Aubin’s Bay, exciting!  It can also be reached using the amphibious castle ferry, so depending on the tide I may walk one way and catch the ferry back.
If anyone has any recommendations on other places to visit or things to do around St Helier I would love to hear them. 🙂
