Bangkok Boutique….

The Shanghai Mansion in Bangkok’s Chinatown is a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of this chaotic but exciting city.  Welcomed by the friendly staff with a refreshing iced tea, the scene is set with vibrantly coloured lanterns hanging from the ceilings and ponds filled with colourful fish; creating an oriental feast for the eyes.  The oriental theme continues into the rooms, where an invitingly comfy four-poster bed awaits adorned with colourful cushions and silk lanterns.  A Chinese tea set and a birdcage in the bathroom give that extra touch of old Shanghai.  The restaurant has a delicious menu of traditional Thai and Chinese dishes.  After dinner you can enjoy some music over a cocktail or two in the well-known ‘Cotton’ jazz bar.  Breakfast caters for everyone from an English fry up to American pancakes, or if you are feeling adventurous try a traditional Thai breakfast; just what’s needed in preparation for a day out exploring the delights of Bangkok.  The main attractions are all easily accessible from Chinatown; with Hualamphong train station nearby and the river just a short stroll away.  Chinatown itself is well worth exploring, with plenty of street markets to get lost in.  This is a great boutique hotel, an oasis of calm in the heart of the action, and it won’t break the bank…
